How we test and score

Same test, every tool

Each use case has a fixed, published test script (same prompts and inputs). Every tool in that use case runs the same script. We record outputs, timings, and the price shown on the vendor’s pricing page on the test date.

Transparent scoring (out of 100)

  • Quality of output, 40
  • Speed, 15
  • Price / value, 20
  • Ease of use, 15
  • Privacy and data terms, 10

Every score shows its breakdown, evidence and last-tested date. Testing is just starting, so scores go up as each tool is tested. A tool is tested again when it releases a major update.

Paying never changes a score

Vendors can pay to be tested faster or for a featured slot. That buys speed or visibility, never a better score or rank. Rankings are ordered by score only.

Sponsored labelling

Every paid placement is clearly labelled Sponsored and shown separately from rankings. Affiliate links, where used, are disclosed. We follow UK consumer law on fake reviews and hidden advertising (DMCC Act 2024, CMA guidance) and the ASA CAP Code.

Human sign-off

Our test agents gather evidence and draft scores. A human editor approves every ranking change before it is published.
